JAKARTA - The Provincial Government of South Sumatra utilizes general transfer funds (DTU) and unexpected expenditures (BTT) which reached tens of billions of rupiah to control inflation as a result of fuel price adjustments some time ago. "We will utilize the absorption of two percent of the DTU and BTT according to the instructions of the central government," said South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, in Palembang, quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 15. He explained that DTU and BTT could be disbursed for social assistance to people affected by inflation due to fuel and other price adjustments. "The central government has provided us with weapons to control the inflation rate through DTU and BTT. If it is carried out on target, it will be quite effective in suppressing the inflation rate. This effort must be carried out in various sectors," he said. Efforts to control the inflation rate must also be carried out for the food sector, because food is one of the sectors that affects inflation. "Regents and mayors must step down to hold market operations, food prices should not increase too high, especially rice," he said. The operation of the cheap rice market has been carried out in stages at a number of traditional markets in Palembang City in early October 2022. Meanwhile, the Palembang City Government allocated general allocation funds (DAU) and profit-sharing funds (DBH) of Rp 9.8 billion for social assistance to communities affected by fuel price adjustments. Regional Secretary of Palembang Ratu Dewa, said the social assistance funds (bansos) were planned for October 17, 2022, to be distributed to the public such as online motorcycle taxi drivers and low-income people (MBR). "The distribution of social assistance for social protection and inflation control will be carried out in stages, namely in October, November, and December 2022," said the Palembang Regional Secretary.
