JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo sudah satu tahun merger sejak Oktober 2021. Pascamerger, Pelindo mampu melakukan penehmatan.

One of the savings was obtained from optimizing assets carried out by the subholding of PT Pelindo Terminal Container (SPTP). Over a year, savings from asset optimization is said to reach at least Rp500 billion.

SPTP Corporate Secretary Widyawendra said the value of the savings was obtained from a number of equipment relocations carried out by the company. The relocation of port support equipment was carried out by the SPTP to meet the minimum needs of equipment at the container terminal in need.

As of September 2022, said Widyaswendra, at least SPTP has relocated 3 units of container lifting equipment above the pier (quay container crane/QCC), 4 units of container lifting equipment in the stacking field (rubber tyred gantry/RTG).

"This asset optimization is carried out to support the standardization of container terminals by meeting the minimum needs of equipment, rather than having to make new purchases through procurement which requires a large amount of money and a lot of time," said Widyaswendra, in an official statement, Thursday, October 6.

It is stated that the new value of QCC type tools ranges from Rp140 billion to Rp160 billion per unit. Meanwhile, the RTG type ranges from Rp40 billion to 50 billion.

Meanwhile, the number of assets optimized by PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas until 2025 has reached 99 equipment that will be relocated to a number of container terminals throughout the company's work area.

"In addition to QCC and RTG, there are also lifters and other container transports that will be optimized, of course, adjusted to the terminal to be targeted, especially infrastructure such as the pier and the stacking field," he said.

Inequality of Container Terminal

Meanwhile, Director of The National Maritime Institute (Namaririn) Siswanto Rusdi said that currently there is an imbalance between the container terminal in the western region and the eastern region in Indonesia. A number of container terminals have not been supported with adequate equipment. As a result, loading and unloading performance at a number of terminals is still not optimal.

Furthermore, Siswanto appreciated Pelindo's steps to relocate a number of main equipment and support the activities of the container terminal.

According to Siswanto, in addition to a number of repair programs and improved competence of operational officers, equipment is also important in improving the performance of the container terminal.

"With good loading and unloading performance, the ship's time at the container terminal (port stay) will be faster, so they can immediately sail and it is hoped that it can increase the number of ship visits," explained Siswanto.
