Face Extreme Weather, Check Out Tips From PLN To Avoid Electrical Attacks

JAKARTA - Responding to the ongoing extreme weather, PT PLN (Persero) appealed to the public to be vigilant if the water rose and caused inundation because it could threaten safety.

"When the water enters the house, customers are advised to immediately turn off the electricity from the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) to avoid the danger of being electrocuted because the water is an electric conductor," said Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL PLN, Gregorius Adi Trianto in his statement, Tuesday, October 4.

Then, he continued, make sure the customer removes all electronic equipment connected to the outlet to avoid short circuits.

In conditions where there is a potential for inundation or rising water, customers should place electronic equipment in a safer and unreachable place for water.

In the event of a safety threat from the electricity grid due to potential flooding or other extreme weather, the public can report and request a temporary suspension of electricity supply.

"People's safety is the most important thing. Therefore, when it rains heavily and causes flooding, the electricity has to be temporarily extinguished," he said.

PLN always works by prioritizing customer safety. In addition, ensuring the advantages of services that will be immediately normalized quickly if there is a disturbance as a result of extreme weather.

"This is a commitment of PLN that strives to keep electricity supply reliable and operating optimally," he said.

"As an anticipatory measure, we also urge the public to want to give up trees that approach the PLN network to be pruned or massaged so as to minimize the potential for electrical disturbances during extreme weather," he concluded.
