JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government (North Sulawesi) launched a Digital Concerned Cheap Market.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Aida S. Budiman said this was an important breakthrough in providing convenience for the public to obtain food products and efforts to maintain price affordability.

"The advantage of this program is the synergy with PD Pasar Manado as an aggregator of food products at competitive prices through e-commerce platforms and the provision of postage costs assistance until December 2022 or a total of 7,500 buyers from PD Pasar," he said in a written statement, Monday, October 3.

According to Aida, this step is part of the National Movement for Food Inflation Control (GNPIP) initiated by BI together with the North Sulawesi Forkopimda and the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) for the Sulawesi region, Maluku, Papua (Sulampua).

"As of September 2022, GNPIP has been implemented in 32 of Bank Indonesia's 46 Domestic Representative Offices (KPwDN) as a form of commitment to prioritize TPID synergy in supporting food inflation control," he said.

Aida added, TPID needs to pay close attention to the high inflationary pressures of the JCI in the future, driven by the high inflation of volatile food groups (volatile foods) due to the increase in global food prices and disruption of supply.

For this reason, the innovation of the GNPIP program must be strengthened so that it is able to have a broader and significant impact to support the realization of price stability.

"The GNPIP program must also pay attention to the sustainability aspect so that agricultural sector production can build better food security," he said.

On the same occasion, North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey expressed support for GNPIP's actions in optimizing various stabilization efforts to maintain inflation.

"This program can be adjusted to the conditions and characteristics of each region such as market operations, expansion of Inter-Regional Cooperation (KAD), transportation cost subsidies, chili planting movements in the yard, as well as the use of alsintan and saprotan," he said.

Olly also revealed the importance of synergy, commitment, and coordination of all parties as the key to the success of the implementation of GNPIP. "In the end, it brings benefits to controlling food inflation so that it supports the purchasing power of the wider community," he said.

For information, the series of activities of the Sulampua GNPIP in Manado began with the signing of an Inter-Regional Cooperation (KAD) between the traders of Manado City and shallot traders from South Sulawesi and chicken meat traders in East Java.

In addition, it was also carried out to strengthen the Surimawa urban farming movement by giving 300,000 red chili seeds, as well as the delivery of the Dedication program for the Country in the form of seeds, compost houses, market digitization infrastructure, and supporting facilities for food price information and communication.
