Shopee also renews the Shopee Select Local page in August 2022, by integrating various features inside and outside the Shopee application including the ease of registration of Shopee MSME Campus programs, Bismbel Shopee and Shopee Export Programs.

This initiative is part of #ShopeeAFor MSMEs to encourage the batik industry to move up class through Shopee technology," explained Handhika.

One of the local batik entrepreneurs who managed to penetrate the international market with Shopee is Dian Nutri Justisia Shirokadt, the owner of Shiroshima Indonesia. This Yogyakarta batik brand offers new wind in the batik industry, through modern motifs and clothing designs that use zero-waste cut techniques, so that it does not leave cloth waste.

Through Shiroshima, Dian wants to invite more young people to be proud to use batik in everyday life. He also aspires to bring Batik Kulon Progo to the international realm. To optimize his business mission, Dian took steps to digitize and join Shopee.

Since joining Shopee, Dian has admitted that he has been helped in reaching wider consumers throughout Indonesia, including young people.

"As a new brand, I feel very helpful with e-commerce platforms like Shopee. With a large customer base, I can reach wider consumers and strengthen Shiroshima brands," said Dian.

With his business development with Shopee, Dian managed to sell his products to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Thanks to the wider market and more orders, he is now able to employ up to 30 batik cap craftsmen and write in Lendah, Kulon Progo.

"If you do it yourself, breaking into the international market is not an easy thing, especially for new brands like Shiroshima. There are many processes that I have to go through, of course it drains time, energy and material. With the Shopee Export Program, I feel that my steps have been made easier to enter the international market, and now I am proud that Shiroshima can greet buyers in five countries in Southeast Asia," said Dian.
