The G20 Presidency Successfully Invites 19 Countries And 3 Filantrops To Commit In FIF

JAKARTA - Indonesia's G20 presidency has succeeded in inviting as many as 19 member and non-member countries as well as three philanthropics to commit to the Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF). “19 member and non-member countries and 3 philanthropics have made FIF commitments to the pandemic PPR, ” said Co-chair of Indonesia Wempi Saputra in an official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, September 30. Wempi in the 6th Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF) meeting said the FIF collected will be used for prevention, preparedness and response (PPR) or preparedness, prevention and control of the pandemic. FIF for the PPR of this pandemic itself was officially formed during the 5th JFHTF meeting at the end of August 2022 and even the Board of Management has also held its inaugural meeting in early September 2022. “ They also adopted the framework of FIF governance and operation manuals,” said Wempi. In the same meeting, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Kunta Wibawa emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between finance and health to deal with the pandemic. He said Indonesia strongly believes that global threats such as the COVID-19 pandemic can only be overcome through collective and coordinated actions. One of the real results of Indonesia's G20 Presidency as shown by this collective action is the formation of FIF for the pandemic PPR. He hopes that all the results, proposals and comments from members during the JFHTF of the Indonesian Presidency can support and be implemented at the Indian Presidency in 2023. Executive Head of the Secretariat Task Force and India's 2023 G20 Presidency Vice ensures India will continue to support FIF by using three parameters. Parameters are maintaining a global G20 health agenda that is relevant globally, reflecting EMDEs and people centricity perspectives. India also supports the continued JFHTF as a coordination platform and conveys the importance of this platform being continued with an inclusive framework without duplicating existing efforts.
