JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided not to change the electricity tariff (taiff adjustment) for 13 non-subsidized customers. This decision applies to the October-December 2022 period or the fourth quarter as of October 1 to December 31, 2022.

Plt. Director General of Electricity Dadan Kusdiana said, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 28 of 2016 concerning Electricity Tariffs provided by PT PLN (Persero) as last amended by the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 3 of 2020.

If there is a change in the realization of macroeconomic indicators (exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price/ICP, inflation, and the Patokan Coal Price/HPB), which is calculated in three months, adjustments will be made to the electricity tariff.

"For the tariff adjustment for the fourth quarter period, use the realization of macroeconomic indicators from May to July 2022," said Dadan in a statement to the media, Thursday, September 29.

He added that the realization of the average macroeconomic parameters from May to July 2022 used in electricity tariff adjustments in the fourth quarter of 2022 experienced a slight increase compared to those used in the third quarter of 2022 so that the tariff adjustment for the fourth quarter should also experience a slight increase.

"However, taking into account the current condition of the community and industry, the government has decided on the electricity tariff in the fourth quarter of 2022 (October-December 2022) for non-subsidized customers referring to the third quarter of 2022 (July-September 2022) or fixed tariffs," he continued.

Dadan said that in the future it is hoped that the realization of macroeconomic parameters can decrease so that it can reduce the cost of providing electricity (BPP) and electricity tariffs.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also encourages PT PLN (Persero) to continue to take operational efficiency measures and spur more aggressive sales of electricity," concluded Dadan.
