JAKARTA - Various related PLN programs in order to overcome the condition of the electricity surplus are expected not to be segmentative and must be inclusive or applied to various communities fairly and evenly. "PLN should not rely solely on one program and one customer segment to overcome this electrical surplus. Including increasing industrial electricity demand and upper-middle-class customers," said Member of Commission VII DPR RI Mulyanto in a release in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, September 28. For this reason, he said, PLN also needs to be more creative in overcoming the current electricity surplus. He emphasized that PLN must also be able to develop various programs so that electricity demand grows without burdening the economy of small communities. "Try to create a program for all customer segments so that the burden of excess electricity production is not borne by one party," he said. Mulyanto said that this excess electricity production must be seriously considered, considering the impact of excess electricity production greatly affects PLN's finances. Therefore, Mulyanto asked PLN to make balanced production and distribution planning, so that there would not be inequality between demand and electricity supply. “ The government must also evaluate the continuation of the program of 35 thousand MW. This program needs to be rescheduled so that it is fit with PLN's work plan," he said. Thus, he continued, the Government must be able to reorganize agreements with private electricity companies or Independent Power Producers (IPP). Regarding the electricity stove program which is planned to make residents switch from gas to electricity, PT PLN (Persero) stated that it canceled the 3 kilogram LPG (kg) stove transfer program to an electric stove to maintain public comfort in post-COVID-19 economic recovery. "PLN has decided that the transfer program to the electric stove will be cancelled. PLN is here to provide comfort in the community through the provision of reliable electricity," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 27. Darmawan also ensured that there would be no increase in electricity rates. The government has decided on the determination of electricity rates through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). In addition, PLN also ensures that there will be no elimination of the customer group with a power of 450 Volt Ampere (VA). The power of 450 VA will also not be diverted to 900 VA so the tariff remains the same for each group. As is known, during the 2016-2021 period, PLN received State Capital Participation (PMN) to build electricity infrastructure of Rp40 trillion, especially in 3T (Front, Outermost and Disadvantaged) areas.
