JAKARTA The Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) recently held a press conference related to quite slick work achievements. It was stated that customs agencies succeeded in preventing the circulation of illegal goods in the country with fantastic values.

Director General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance Askolani said that his party had responded to the completion of the prosecution (P21) resulting from the investigation of money laundering (TPPU) in Batam.

"This started with the arrest of illegal cigarettes smuggling from Vietnam as many as 51 million cigarettes," he said in a written statement on Saturday, September 25.

According to Askolani, the government's decisive action can avoid potential losses of up to trillions of rupiah.

"This is a disclosure with the potential loss of state revenue quite significant reaching Rp1 trillion," he said.

In addition, Sri Mulyani's ranks also succeeded in carrying out asset recovery in the form of 1 motorcycle sailing ship, 1 car, 1 HSC giant ship (high speed aircraft), 5 HSC units, and 3 speedboat units.

"Even confiscated cash in the form of rupiah and Singapore dollars with a total value of goods and money reaching Rp44.6 billion," he said.

Askolani revealed that this achievement was the result of collaboration with various relevant agencies, especially law enforcement officers.

"The success achieved was the result of Customs and Excise collaboration with PPATK, Directorate General of Taxes, Prosecutor's Office, BAIS TNI, Police, Military Police, TNI AD and other relevant agencies," concluded Director General of Customs and Excise Askolani.
