Indosat Laid Off Hundreds Of Employees, Given Severance Pay Up To 75 Salaries

JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has terminated hundreds of its employees.

However, Indosat employees affected by layoffs will receive severance pay of 37 times wages. In fact, the highest could reach 75 times wages.

"The process is in line with existing laws and regulations and have been carried out with careful consideration, which are carried out objectively and fairly," said Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Director & Chief of Human Resources Officer Irsyad Sahroni in Jakarta, Friday, September 23.

Irsyad added that more than 95 percent of the affected employees had accepted the offer. Meanwhile, as small, the rest are still considering this offer.

The company, he continued, has also communicated directly and transparently with all employees.

"Everyone has understood the need to increase agility and grow faster according to current demands and market needs," said Irsyad.

"Reorganization initiatives are essential for the sustainability and business growth of the company going forward," he continued.

Still said Irsyad, the decision to reduce employees is based on future business strategies and comprehensive considerations.

"And it is hoped that it can be a strategic step that will bring Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to become the most chosen digital telecommunications company in Indonesia," said Irsyad.
