Development Of Coal PLTU That Enters The RUPTL Continues

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has ensured that the construction of the Coal Steam Power Plant (PLTU) included in the 2021-2030 PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) will continue.

Previously, the government had just approved Presidential Regulation 112 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development for the Supply of Electricity on September 13, 2022.

The Presidential Regulation regulates a number of provisions such as the purchase price of renewable energy power by PLN, the ban on the development of PLTU, to the acceleration of the extension of the PLTU operating time.

Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said the construction of the PLTU in the RUPTL was to ensure the availability of domestic electricity supply.

"The PLTU, which is now operational and is being built which is included in the RUPTL, will continue to be built because we need it to provide domestic electricity," said Dadan in Jakarta, Monday, September 19.

He added that the PLTU in Indonesia is not only intended for PLN but also for industrial needs.

In addition, his party will also continue the construction of the Coal Coal PLTU as a follow-up to the 35,000 megawatt (MW) mega-project until 2028.

"The construction of 35,000 MW which was launched in early 2015 is still in the construction process of 11.3 GW, which has not yet 2.5 GW and that is what we continue to monitor, which construction has not yet been seen whether it will continue or not," he continued.

Just so you know, the Government has issued an Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for PLN 2021-2030 by increasing the portion of the New Renewable Energy Plant (EBT).

The target of the EBT mix in the General National Electricity Plan (RUKN) is 23 percent by 2025.

Meanwhile, the number of PLTU in the 2021-2030 RUPTL reached 34 percent of the total power plants to be built until 2030 of 40.6 GW.

Meanwhile, the portion of new and renewable energy-based power plants (EBT) to be built during 2021-2030 based on the 2021-2030 RUPTL will reach 20.9 GW or around 51.6 percent of the total additional new power plants later.
