JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the price of basic goods is still being monitored to be stable, although subsidized fuel oil (BBM) prices have increased some time ago. This means that there has been no significant impact as a result of the increase in fuel prices.

Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly called, also ensures that the Ministry of Trade will continue to keep prices for basic necessities stable.

"The increase in subsidized fuel has not affected the price of basic necessities that are still stable," said Zulhas, in an official statement, Thursday, September 15.

Furthermore, said Zulhas, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has also ordered regional heads to assist in transportation costs to their respective regions. This is to maintain people's purchasing power.

"If the price of basic necessities goes up, the local government will bear the transportation costs. For this reason, the price of basic goods must be monitored continuously because it involves the livelihoods of many people," he explained.

Based on observations, said Zulhas, the price of basic goods is relatively stable compared to the previous month. In fact, some commodities experienced price declines, such as chicken eggs, shallots, and chilies.
