JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) launched imports in August 2022 which were valued at US$22.15 billion, dominated by raw materials and rescuers which contributed 75.65 percent of the total imports of that period. The increase in imports was mainly driven by cereal commodities which rose 47.29 percent; machinery and electrical equipment and their parts rose 7.16 percent; and goods from iron and steel which rose 43.34 percent. Capital goods imports increased by 18.14 percent, driven mainly by machine capital goods and mechanical equipment as well as their parts which rose 17.55 percent; machinery and electrical equipment increased 16.33 percent. In addition, imports of consumer goods in August 2022 increased 12.27 percent compared to July 2022.
