JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk scored a profit of Rp1.47 trillion in the first semester of 2022. This record increased by 59.87 percent compared to the same period the previous year of Rp920 billion.

President Director of Bank BTN Haru Koesmahargyo said the positive performance achievement in the first half of 2022 was the fruit of the transformation carried out by all ranks of BTN in achieving the business targets that had been set.

"We are optimistic that by the end of 2022, Bank BTN's performance will be better with various business strategies implemented," Haru said at a press conference quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 15.

According to Haru, the company's increase in net profit was supported by the success of Bank BTN in carrying out strategic initiatives in the first semester of 2022, including increasing lending, cost of funds (cost of funds) which were successfully suppressed in line with the increase in low-cost fund raising, as well as the success of Bank BTN in improving the ratio of non-performing loans (NPL) which continued to decline.

Haru explained, during the January-June 2022 period, the issuer coded BBTN shares managed to disburse loans of IDR 286.15 trillion, an increase of 7.61 percent from the same position last year of IDR 265.907 trillion. The distribution of housing loans still dominates the company's total credit in the first semester of 2022.

Meanwhile, housing loans disbursed by Bank BTN until the end of June 2022 reached Rp251.914 trillion. Of this amount, KPR Subsidy in the first semester of 2022 still dominated with a value of Rp137.255 trillion, growing 8.68 percent compared to the same period last year of Rp126.297 trillion. Meanwhile, non-subsidized mortgages grew 5.84 percent to Rp85.305 trillion in the first semester of 2022 compared to the same period last year of Rp80.598 trillion.

"We are spurring credit by taking great care of the precautionary principle. Therefore, our ratio of problematic credit continues to improve. NPL Gross in the first semester of 2022 is at the level of 3.54 percent, lower than before at the level of 4.1 percent. Meanwhile, NPL Nett is 1.04 percent, down from the position of 1.87 percent," Haru said.

The increase in credit has an impact on net interest income or net interest income (NII) which grew 35.97 percent in the first semester of 2022 to Rp7.74 trillion compared to the same period last year of Rp5.69 trillion. The increase in NII made Bank BTN's net interest margin (NIM) ratio also increased from 3.41 percent at the end of June 2021 to 4.58 percent in the first semester of 2022.

In terms of Third Party Funds (DPK), Haru said that in the first semester of 2022, the acquisition of Bank BTN DPK reached Rp. 307.309 trillion, an increase of 2.99 percent from the same period last year of Rp. 298.378 trillion. Of this amount, the acquisition of low-cost funds or CASA reached Rp. 137.453 trillion, an increase of 22.95 percent compared to the end of June 2021 of Rp. 111.798 trillion.

"The fairly high increase in CASA has increased the contribution of low-cost funds to 44.73 percent of the total BTN Bank DPK in the first semester of 2022," Haru said.

Haru added that the increase in Bank BTN low-cost funds managed to reduce the cost of Bank BTN's funds in the first semester of 2022 to 2.35 percent compared to the same period last year of 3.45 percent. The focus of Bank BTN in boosting the acquisition of low-cost funds and cutting expensive funds has made the company's total deposits decreased 8.96 percent to Rp169.86 trillion in the first semester of 2022 compared to the same period last year of Rp186.58 trillion.

In line with conventional business growth, the net profit of the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) of Bank BTN or BTN Syariah also grew positively in the first semester of 2022. The net profit of UUS BTN was recorded to have jumped 118.06 percent from Rp87.54 billion in the first semester of 2021 to Rp190.9 billion in the same period this year.

The positive achievement of BTN Syariah is supported by stable business growth. In the first semester of 2022, sharia financing grew 8.86 percent to Rp29.24 trillion compared to the end of the first semester of 2021 of Rp26.86 trillion.

Meanwhile, the total DPK that was successfully collected by BTN Syariah reached Rp30.49 trillion, growing 13.37 percent compared to the same period last year of Rp26.89 trillion.
