JAKARTA - PT Sarana Menara Nusantara Tbk (TOWR) is ready to meet the infrastructure needs of the telecommunications industry in the country through the construction of towers and fiber optic networks.

"The SMN Group, which consists of Protelindo, i change and STP, is ready to meet and support the infrastructure needs of the telecommunications industry in Indonesia which continues to grow through tower construction and fiber optic networks to improve the quality of the national 4G network in Indonesia," said TOWR Vice President Director Adam Gifari at the 2022 Public Expose LIVE quoted by Antara, Tuesday 13 September.

Until the first half of this year, the company from the Djarum Group owned by the Hartono Brothers conglomerate has more than 29,200 towers with more than 54,700 tenants, more than 109,000 km of fiber optic connections that generate income, and more than 13,300 connectivity activations.

Operating income during the first semester of 2022 reached IDR 5.3 trillion, an increase of 33.9 percent from IDR 3.97 trillion in the previous year. The company's EBITDA reached IDR 4.57 trillion, an increase of 34.1 percent from IDR 3.4 trillion in the previous year. Meanwhile, the company's net profit reached IDR 1.69 trillion, an increase of 0.1 percent compared to the previous year.

Adam said that each business segment showed good growth. Income from the tower segment in the first half of 2022 reached Rp4.28 trillion or grew 30.7 percent from the previous year.

Income from the fiber tower segment reached Rp479.6 billion or grew 83.5 percent, while income from the connectivity segment reached Rp555.3 billion or grew 27.9 percent.

This achievement comes from organic and in-organic business growth. Organic growth is supported by the development of the telecommunications industry where operators need more towers and fiber optic networks to improve the quality of their services. Meanwhile, inorganic growth stems from tower acquisition transactions earlier this year.

"We believe the potential of the Indonesian telecommunications industry is still very interesting, and by sticking to one of the core values of SMN, namely Know Your Customer, we will continue to adapt to be able to understand and meet the needs of operators. The trend of infrastructure needs is expected to continue to increase as seen from the high growth of fiber optic networks and business connectivity this year, all of which comes from organic growth," said Adam.

Adam added that capital expenditures during the first semester of 2022 reached Rp1.57 trillion, while the 2022 allocation was around Rp4 trillion. The achievement of revenue and EBITDA 2022 is estimated at around the target of Rp10.5 trillion and Rp9 trillion.
