KUPANG - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province will export 20 tons of grouper fish to Hong Kong in October 2022. This further proves NTT as an area that has abundant fisheries and marine potential.

The plan to send 20 tons of grouper fish to Hong Kong was conveyed by the Governor of NTT, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat.

"The NTT province is an area that has a very abundant fisheries and marine potential, after the NTT government optimizes the management of the potential for the development of the fish farming business, it turns out that the results are extraordinary," Viktor said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 10.

He said the NTT Provincial Government continues to encourage investment in the development of fisheries and marine businesses. The reason is, it is very helpful for the community in increasing economic income.

The delivery of 20 tons of fish in October 2022 is the second export. Previously, the NTT Provincial Government also succeeded in sending live grouper fish to Hong Kong some time ago.

However, it was not stated in detail how many.

"The potential for marketing live types of grouper fish in Hong Kong is so potential that NTT chooses to deliver live fish directly from Kupang because the demand for live grouper fish from Hong Kong is very high," said Viktor.

He hopes that with the increasing demand for live fish of the type of lerapu from Hong Kong, fish delivery can be carried out every month.

He is not worried about a shortage of stock because the potential for marine natural resources in NTT is very supportive so that it can boost the economy of the people of NTT quickly.

"We will continue to strive to meet the needs of live fish to Hong Kong because the demand for fresh fish from the country is very high and it is a very promising fish market potential for NTT Province," said the Governor.

He also encouraged fishermen in NTT to continue to develop a living grouper business so that the fresh fish needs requested by business actors from Hong Kong every month can be met by tens of tons.
