As A Result Of The Increase In Fuel Prices, Sea Transportation Tariffs In Riau Islands Rose 20 Percent

TANJUNGPINANG - The government's decision to increase the price of fuel oil (BBM) has an impact on increasing transportation rates. Not only land transportation, but also sea.

In the Riau Islands, Governor Ansar Ahmad officially set an adjustment to sea transportation rates for travel within the local area.

The sea transportation tariff adjustment is contained in Decree (SK) Number 1065 of 2022 concerning the Transportation Tariff for Public Interior Passengers / City in the Riau Islands Province Region. This decree was issued on Friday, September 9 yesterday.

Ansar said the increase in sea transportation rates had been adjusted to people's abilities.

"With the aim of not burdening the community and maintaining the stability of inflation in Riau Islands," he said, as reported by Antara, Saturday, September 10.

With this decree, the tariff from Tanjungpinang to Telaga Panggur is now IDR 69,000, Tanjungpinang to Tarempa IDR 542,000, Tanjungpinang to Jagoh IDR 216,000, and Tanjungpinang to Tanjung Balai Karimun was set at IDR 220,000.

Meanwhile, from Sekupang to Tanjung Balai Karimun, it was Rp. 103,000, and from Telaga Panggur to Jagoh it was Rp. 294,000.

The governor stated that this tariff adjustment will also be evaluated regularly every three months.

"To see if there is a change that affects operational costs and adjustments due to the increase in fuel prices," said Ansar.

The Head of the Riau Islands Provincial Transportation Service, Junaidi, claimed that the shipping entrepreneur had agreed to increase the sea transportation rate in Riau Islands by a maximum of 20 percent. This is an effort to maintain inflation control in Riau Islands, one of the biggest contributors is the transportation sector.

According to Governor Ansar's instructions, according to him, all parties must contribute to maintaining economic stability in Riau Islands. This follows the increasingly dynamic global conditions because of various factors that affect energy prices and the prices of basic foodstuffs.

"Don't let this tariff increase be too heavy for the community. Even though the fuel price increase is around 54 percent, the increase in transportation rates should not be the same, maximize it by 20 percent," said Junaidi.
