Bring Three Claims, 5,000 Ojol Drivers Will Hold Demonstration Actions In Front Of The Merdeka Palace Starting At 15.00 WIB Today

JAKARTA - Online motorcycle taxi drivers or Ojol will hold a demonstration this afternoon. In this action, there are three demands that will be made. One of them rejected the Decree of the Minister of Transportation KP 667 of 2022 which is still implementing a zoning system for ojol tariffs.

This action is a joint action of the Association of Indonesian Ojek Online Driver Association and Alliances, including the Association of Indonesian Online Ojek Drivers, Ojek Online Garda Indonesia Driver Organization, Indonesia Online Tekab Drivers, Ojek Online Driver Alliance from Laskar Malarari, Patra Indonesia and the All-Indonesian Online Society (MOSI).

Chairman of the Indonesian Garda Online Drivers Association, Igun Wicaksono, said this action would be held at 15.00 WIB. The gathering point is for a sense of being at the Arjuna Horse Statue, Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, the demonstration center will be held in front of the Merdeka Palace.

"They gather at the Horse Statue. There are around 1,000 to 5,000 mass actions. They come from Sumatra, Greater Jakarta and Java," he told VOI, in Jakarta, Friday, September 9.

Igun said that the act of conveying this aspiration was addressed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This is because the voices of ojol drivers are not heard by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

"We will convey our objection directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Because many times we have sued the Ministry of Transportation, but it turns out that it is not heeded," he said.

Three Claims

There are three demands that will be voiced by ojol drivers at the demonstration later. First, ask President Jokowi to encourage the legality of online motorcycle taxis to be included in the DPR Prolegnas in 2022/2023.

"Or the President of the Republic of Indonesia can issue government regulations to replace the law (Perpu) to legalize online motorcycle taxis in the near future in 2022 because it is very urgent for legal status for online motorcycle taxis," quoted from an official statement.

Second, the Association and the Indonesian Online Ojek Driver Alliance reject the Decree of the Minister of Transportation KP Number 667 of 2022 which is still implementing a zoning system to determine the rate of ojol.

"Because we want the online motorcycle taxi rates to be submitted to the regulators of each province by involving the Online Ojek Drivers Association in every province in Indonesia," he wrote.

Finally, the combination of the Association and the Indonesian Online Ojek Driver Alliance demanded a discount on the application that was charged to an online motorcycle taxi driver by an applicator company of a maximum of 10 percent.

"We want the online motorcycle taxi fare not to go too high by cutting the rental fee for the application to a maximum of 10 percent so that our passengers are also maintained the ability to pay online motorcycle taxi services," he said.

The three aspiration demands will also be submitted through a written letter directly to the Presidential Palace so that the aspirations of the combined association, organization and online motorcycle taxi driver alliance can be accepted by President Jokowi and can be fulfilled.
