JAKARTA - The government plans to distribute electricity stoves for free or induction. Therefore, the government will increase the budget of Rp5 trillion. The distribution of this electric stove will be carried out in stages over five years. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said that in his scheme, the distribution of electric stoves is not carried out simultaneously. But gradually for the next 5 years. He said, the distribution of this free stove will begin next year. For your information, the use of power stoves is included in the main program of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN. The program is predicted to be able to overcome the problem of oversupply or excess supply, even reducing the burden of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) due to imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Erick said, the policy would be realized if the program for distributing electric stoves carried out by PLN was successful. Through this program, PLN targets the community to use the induction stove to increase to 300,000. The budget prepared is Rp300 billion. "Next year's government (planning) will add another Rp5 trillion to distribute electric stoves (for free) for the next 5 years," Erick said in Amsterdam, Netherlands, quoted Monday, September 5.

Erick explained that the induction stove is one way for the government to support the energy transition and divert LPG subsidies in the future. However, Erick said the government is also thinking about not letting the lower middle class people who use electric stoves be considered a capable group. "Don't let houses under 900 VAs be considered capable because they use electric stoves," said Erick. For your information, the government is obliged to provide LPG price subsidies for underprivileged people. So that the amount of government's expenditure for subsidies is also increased. This is reinforced by LPG imports which are recorded at 77 percent. The government is also trying to suppress LPG imports by transferring the use of LPG to electrical-based energy.
