JAKARTA - Employers assess that the increase in fuel oil prices (BBM) is still at the moderate level, or still affordable for the community, but the impact of the increase in fuel prices needs to be well controlled by the government. "The amount of fuel increases is still at a moderate figure, meaning that prices that are still affordable by the community so that inflation and people's purchasing power can still be maintained," said Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang in a written statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Saturday, September 3. Sarman said business actors really understand and understand the government's policy of increasing the price of fuel that has been subsidized. This is because there is no other choice because the turmoil in world crude oil prices cannot be avoided. The general chairman of the DPD for the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (Hippi) of DKI Jakarta Province ensured that the increase in fuel had been anticipated by business actors, because directly or indirectly it would affect the business world. However, he hopes that the government can take appropriate policies related to the side effects of increasing fuel. "We hope that the government is able to take the right policies on the impact of increasing fuel, for example, increasing transportation and logistics rates must be balanced, then controlling food and gas basic prices so that they are able to control and maintain inflation and household consumption," he said. According to Sarman, the government's ability to maintain inflation and purchasing power is expected to keep economic growth in the third and fourth quarters of 2022 above 5 percent. "With the hope that with the maintenance of purchasing power or household consumption, the turnover of business actors will not drop drastically, so as not to reduce the productivity of business actors," he said. The business world, continued Sarman, appreciates the government's steps in preparing additional social assistance funds. The hope is that the impact of the increase in fuel can withstand the inflation rate and household consumption remains passionate. The local government will also allocate 2 percent of the general transfer funds or General Allocation Funds and Revenue Sharing Funds in the form of transportation subsidies. "The perpetrators hope that the various social assistance and subsidies that will be distributed by the government must be on time and on target. Do not let any more residents receive what is not their right, for that accurate data and proper supervision are needed," he said. Business actors also invite various groups to understand the government's policy of increasing subsidized fuel prices. "All for our economic resilience amid uncertain global economic turmoil. We must be grateful that in a volatile global economic situation, our national economy is still growing. This means that our economic recovery process is going well, our productivity and economic stretching are growing positively and household consumption is still well maintained," he said. Sarman invites all parties to maintain the existing momentum and conditions to create a conducive business climate and investment so that potential investors do not hesitate to enter Indonesia.
