JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo said that currently more than 22 million MSMEs have been digitized through the use of the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS). Perry is also optimistic that this number will continue to grow from year to year.

"QRIS is used throughout the country, including Islamic boarding schools and mostly MSMEs," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo in The 6th Annual Islamic Finance Conference, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 24.

Therefore, QRIS is very important for MSMEs, including Islamic boarding schools, so that its expansion needs to continue, especially as part of the digitalization of the payment system carried out by BI.

In addition to QRIS, Perry Warjiyo said that his party is also developing and presenting BI-FAST which is a retail payment system needed for MSMEs to increase cash flow through BI fast payments that are real time, 24 hours in 7 days, and very efficient.

"BI-FAST transaction costs are less than IDR 2,500 and most importantly, through fast payments, MSME cash flows will be much faster and the waiting time to get money from buyers is much less," he said.

Not only that, Perry Warjiyo explained that BI also provides other forms of digitalization in the payment system through digital banking, financial technology companies (fintech), e-commerce, electronification of social programs, and other digital forms.

Digitalization will make it much easier to develop small projects for MSMEs, develop mixed financing schemes, and various other aspects needed by the sector.

Therefore, he invites all parties to encourage MSMEs through digital projects, digital finance, and digital payment systems.
