JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) and PT Pertamina (Persero) signed an agreement to supply electricity to the Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) Olefin Complex.

The TPPI Olefin Complex project is one of the national strategic projects to meet domestic energy needs, where this project requires electricity up to 169 megawatts (MW) with high reliability and efficient cost.

Regional Business Director of PLN Java, Madura and Bali, Haryanto WS, said this signing was a milestone in the history of joint energy supply between PLN and Pertamina.

Not only that, this agreement also shows PLN's commitment to serve and provide reliable, quality and competitively priced electricity supply.

“With full commitment and responsibility, PLN will meet the electricity needs for the TPPI Olefin Complex so that it can focus on its business, namely producing and processing high quality oil and gas. We will continue to prepare well for the future electricity system plans for this area," said Haryanto in an official statement, Wednesday, August 24.

Through the synergy of SOEs, continued Haryanto, this agreement will support national strategic projects to meet domestic energy needs and reduce foreign exchange.

With a very strong Java-Bali electricity system, PLN will provide full support to all customers.

He also appreciated and thanked Pertamina through PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional (KPI) for entrusting its electricity to PLN.

"Of course, PLN will provide the best service, maintained power quality. Previously, we have also collaborated with Pertamina upstream to provide quality guaranteed electricity supply. We hope that this collaboration will strengthen the collaborative climate between SOEs and continue to other synergies , "explained Haryanto.

On the other hand, the Director of Pertamina Infrastructure Projects, Kadek Ambara Jaya, said that this was a historic moment of synergy between PLN and Pertamina that could be used as a benchmark for other collaborations in the future.

“This historic moment is the second collaboration between PLN and Pertamina in Tuban. Through this collaboration, we are also committed to creating a better environment, reducing the use of generators and diesel fuel so that we hope that the reliability of the electricity supply from PLN is guaranteed to ensure the quality so that the project can run smoothly," explained Kadek Ambara Jaya.

Currently, the Java-Bali electricity system has a capacity of 39,000 MW and will later increase to 45,000 MW. The additional capacity is carried out for industrial growth in Java and Bali.

In particular, the condition of electricity in the East Java region has a capacity of 9,054 MW, with a peak load of 6,737 MW. PLN still has reserves of 2,317 MW.

With this sufficient power, PLN is ready to meet electricity needs in supporting the growth of the industrial climate in East Java, one of which is the TPPI Olefin Complex Development Project.
