JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta would reopen to the public in October 2022 after the tourist attraction was revitalized.

"(It will open) in October," after accompanying President Joko Widodo during a direct review of TMII, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 23.

Basuki explained that the price of admission was still being considered by the State Secretariat.

Before being revitalized, the price of admission to the tourist park, the idea of the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto and Tien Suharto, was set at Rp. 25,000 per person.

"That will be the State Secretariat. The current one is Rp. 25,000. Hopefully it will still be there," said Basuki.

Related to a number of changes at TMII, Basuki explained that the revitalization carried a more natural concept as a people's tourism park in Jakarta, in addition to Ancol and Ragunan tours which are often visited.

Then, the parking capacity can be used for up to 500 cars.

For changes to the archipelagic park or "Archipelago", the Government added Miangas Island and Rote Island, as well as the number of platforms to 37 provinces.

The Tugu Api, which was previously surrounded by ceramics, will also be planted with grass and legumes to highlight the natural concept in the new TMII.

"So we return to nature, the President's concept is all natural. We also install bridges with natural stone," said Basuki.

The revitalization of TMII is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 116 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of the Implementation of Infrastructure Development to Support the Implementation of International Events in Bali Province, DKI Jakarta Province, West Nusa Tenggara Province, and East Nusa Tenggara Province.

The revitalization of TMII is in line with Indonesia's G20 Presidency and will be one of the locations for the G20 Summit.
