Sandiaga Uno Pushes Pekanbaru To Be A Creative City

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno wants Pekanbaru in Riau to be part of a creative city considering that so far the area is synonymous with extractive economy.

"We have to build a creative economy ecosystem, because I saw that the creative economy products were extraordinary," said Sandiaga while attending a creative district/city (KaTa) workshop at the Soeman HS Library, Pekanbaru, Riau, through an official statement, quoted from Antara. , Monday 22 August.

He also asked creative economy actors (Ekraf) together with the local city government to immediately determine the leading creative economy sub-sector to be able to focus on developing and entering the Creative Word network.

One of the sub-sectors that can be favored is culinary. According to Sandiaga, the city of Pekanbaru has a variety of culinary delights with such a distinctive taste, such as catfish curry, kemojo cake, and cakes.

Likewise, fashion creative products such as songket weaving have many variations.

"Please discuss the entire creative economy ecosystem. Give input and determine so that we can define it as a creative city so that we can collaborate with other creative economy actors," he said.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy emphasized that creative and creative actors must be able to take opportunities in the midst of economic challenges by utilizing digitalization so that marketing development is more advanced. Thus, various products of MSME actors can be included in the government's e-catalog.

Director of Creative Economy Infrastructure, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Hariyanto said his party is ready to support creative economy actors as creative cities and enter the creative word network.

"Later, there will be a sampling test which we will immediately facilitate and follow up so that Pekanbaru is part of a creative district/city with a mutually agreed upon superior sub-sector," said Hariyanto.
