JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has officially submitted a draft plan of development (POD) document for the Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) Phase 1 project in Minas Field Work Area (WK) Rokan, Riau. PHR President Director Jaffee A. Suardin submitted the document to the Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto which coincided with the one-year anniversary of the transfer of the Rokan WK Management to PHR as well as the inauguration of the Digital & Innovation Center facility.

"The development of the CEOR is part of the Definite Work Commitment, or KKP, PHR to the government to increase reserves and/or production in the first five years since the transfer of management of WK Rokan on August 9, 2021," said Jaffee A. Suardin in an official statement, Tuesday. August 9th.

He added that PHR plans to carry out CEOR Phase 1 through the first injection of surfactant in Minas Field around the end of 2025 in order to meet the timeline according to the KKP.

The implementation plan for Phase 1 covers 37 wells including production wells, injectors, observation, and disposal wells by implementing a well configuration with 7 spot inverted irregular patterns. Surfactant is flowed into the oil well to release the remaining oil trapped in the pores of the rock in the reservoir. Surfactants work to reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water so that it can increase the recovery of petroleum.

Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto said that the development of the CEOR in Minas is one of the efforts to optimize the production of the Rokan WK which still has great potential.

"To support this project, SKK Migas will also work quickly and carefully in reviewing and approving documents submitted by PHR. We are optimistic that we will complete it in the shortest possible time," he said.

Dwi then said that this PHR commitment became one of the main pillars of the long term plan to support efforts to achieve the national oil production target of 1 million barrels per day and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day in 2030.

"On behalf of the management of SKK Migas, we also congratulate PHR on the completion of one year of management of the Rokan WK by PHR, where in the process, PHR was able to carry out massive and aggressive drilling activities. In the future, we hope that PHR will also be able to answer the challenges of implementing CEOR in Indonesia by providing proof that the nation's children are capable of doing this in the country," added Dwi.

The sustainability and success of the implementation of the CEOR will be a new hope for increasing the amount of oil that can be produced (recovery factor) from old fields in the Rokan WK in particular, and the oil industry in Indonesia in general.

In addition to CEOR, the optimization of the potential of the Rokan WK is pursued through a massive and aggressive work plan, including optimization of base production, well rework (workover), drilling of new and insert wells, water and steam injection technology, to the development of Non-Conventional Oil and Gas (MNK) potential. . WK Rokan has a strategic role in the context of national energy security as well as its contribution to state revenues through oil and tax sharing.

Currently, WK Rokan contributes about a quarter of the total national production and a third of Pertamina's total oil production. And, all of WK Rokan's production is sent to Pertamina's domestic refineries to support the fulfillment of energy needs and security in the country.
