Investigate The Cause Of Fuel Seepage In Cilacap, Pertamina: Types Of Gasoil And Gasoline

JAKARTA - Pertamina's fuel pipe in Lengkong Hamlet, Jeruklegi Kulon Village, Jeruklegi District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java experienced a leak on Wednesday, August 3 morning. Pertamina through its subholding, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is still investigating the cause of fuel seepage around the Cilacap-Bandung (CB) 3 fuel pipeline project site.

"We together with the Operational Cooperation (KSO) PT Hutama Karya (Persero) and PT Timas Suplindo as the executor of the CB 3 pipeline project are still investigating the cause of the seepage," said Area Manager Communication, Relations, & Corporate Social Responsibility for the Central Java Region. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Brasto Galih Nugroho quoted from Antara, Saturday, August 6.

Brasto revealed that his party had localized the seepage area, followed by excavation of the soil to look for leak points in the leaking fuel pipe for repairs. It is known, the seepage comes from the CB 1 pipe.

"The existing CB 1 and CB 2 pipes are multifunctional pipes. These pipes can be used to distribute gasoline (Pertalite, Pertamax, etc.) and gasoil (Solar, Dex, and so on) alternately from Cilacap to Bandung," he said.

Due to seepage, he continued, the distribution of fuel from Cilacap to Bandung was diverted through the CB 2 pipeline. Regarding the type of fuel seeping, Brasto said it consisted of two types, namely gasoil and gasoline.

"Incidentally, there are still remnants of gasoil that come out with the gasoline because the pipe is indeed multifunctional," he said.

According to him, Pertamina has tried to deal with the impact of the fuel seepage on the environment, one of which is by localizing and siphoning the fuel that pollutes the Jambu River.

Not only that, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has also opened a complaint post at the Jeruklegi Sector Police Headquarters which started operating today. The establishment of this post is intended to receive complaints from the people affected by the seepage.

"The post is starting to open today. For people who want to submit complaints and so on related to the seepage of fuel, please come directly to the post," said Brasto.

Meanwhile Deputy Construction Manager of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Darmawan Setiadi said his party had dug up the fuel seepage area using an excavator.

"The target is today or tomorrow at the latest, the hole will be closed. So the pipe has been found, we have localized the area, we have dug it with excavators, the patching plan is 1-2 days at the latest, we will maximize it," he concluded.
