Pema Global Energi Mulai Cari Sumber Minyak Baru di Blok Migas Eks Exxon Mobil

JAKARTA - Regional company PT Pema Global Energi (PGE) has started looking for new oil and gas sources in the former Exxon Mobil and PHE NSB Block B working areas in North Aceh Regency.

President Director of PT PGE Teuku Muda Ariaman said the search for new oil and gas sources used three-dimensional seismic methods.

"Currently, the condition of the working area of Block B left by Exxon Mobil and PHE NSB managed by PGE is nearing the economic end. If new oil and gas sources are not sought, PGE will stop operating," said Teuku Muda Ariaman as quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 4.

Teuku Muda Ariaman said, with a contract of up to 20 years, PGE is committed to definite work ordered by the government.

For the first three years, it is a seismic study of the sustainability of work area B, which is predicted to only last for the next two to three years.

"If PGE stops operating, it will be a huge loss for Aceh. Therefore, we ask for full support from all parties to make the search for new oil and gas sources successful," said Teuku Muda Ariaman.

Teuku Muda Ariaman said, if the search for new oil and gas sources goes well and can be found, then the oil and gas produced by PGE will greatly support regional income.

"In addition, it can also answer the need for fuel to revive other industrial areas such as the Arun SEZ, PIM, and other industries in North Aceh and Lhokseumawe," said Teuku Muda Ariaman.

Muhammad Makmun, representative of the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA), said that the search using the three-dimensional seismic method was carried out by PGE for the first time under the supervision of BPMA.

"We hope that this activity will run well and get maximum results to increase the country's foreign exchange which is then returned in the form of oil and gas revenue-sharing funds to producing regions," said Muhammad Makmun.

Muhammad Makmun said BPMA was born based on the order of Law No. 11 concerning the Aceh government and its derivative government regulations that allow Aceh to manage its own oil and gas.

Acting Regent of North Aceh Azwardi said the people of Aceh should be grateful for the seismic survey plan that PT PGE will carry out to find new oil and gas sources.

"If the results are positive, then the community will enjoy the results. Therefore, community support is needed for the activity to search for oil and gas sources," said Azwardi.

The search for new oil and gas sources using the three-dimensional seismic method covers an area of up to 250 square kilometers covering the districts of North Aceh and East Aceh.

Seismic surveys use a vibrating car to generate data which is then captured and other units called lobo for further investigation by a team of experts.
