JAKARTA - Central Jakarta BNI City Station will be used for commuter line KRL passenger boarding activities on Saturday, July 30, tomorrow.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Anne Purba said the use of BNI City Station aims to provide convenience for Jabodetabek KRL users.

"So this is part of improving KAI Commuter services to customers. KRL users have an alternative to get on and off at Sudirman Station, BNI City, or Karet," said Anne at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday.

Anne said that BNI City Station would improve community connectivity in moving to various locations in the capital city.

In addition, its presence is expected to support the integration of public transportation modes, namely, Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, to online transportation.

"Furthermore, connectivity will continue to be developed. We are intensively communicating with the Regional Government, Operators, and the Community," he said.

He added that the opening of BNI City Station is projected to be able to divide the density at Sudirman Station and Karet Station to reach 40 percent or around 9,000 to 10,000 passengers.

He said that currently Sudirman Station serves an average of 17,000 passengers per day. While in normal times it reaches 25,000 passengers.

"Then, currently Karet Station serves 10,000 passengers per day. BNI City Station will be very helpful, especially during busy hours," he said.

Anne added, KAI Commuter and PT Railink (KAI Bandara) as managers of BNI City Station will conduct operational trials for a week, for further evaluation.

On the same occasion, Public Relations of KAI Airport, Diah Suryandari welcomed the plan to use BNI City Station to get on and off KRL passengers.

He said that prospective Airport Train users who previously used the Jabodetabek KRL can tap-out, and then tap-in to use Airport Train services.

"One of the benefits is that it makes it easier to change transportation modes. Tap-out is at the KRL gate and directly tap-in Airport Train at the same station," he said.

In addition, Airport Train users can also use Multi Trip Cards (KMT) or Digital Bank Cards to make payment transactions.

According to him, this is easier and more efficient than buying tickets through a vending machine.

Diah added, during the trial period, the Airport Train will continue to serve as many as 40 trips per day on the Manggarai Station-Soekarno Hatta Airport PP route.

"As for the application of the minimum balance between Jabodetabek KRL and Airport Trains, there are differences. For Airport Trains, the minimum balance is IDR 70,000 or the furthest relationship," he concluded.
