JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has built a tower of flats (Rusun) for students at the Tadulako University Campus, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng).

The flat is also equipped with furniture and other supporting facilities.

"The student flats at Tadulako University have been completed 100 percent and are expected to be able to encourage millennial learning enthusiasm in Central Sulawesi," said Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, July 25.

He stated that the construction of the flats was a form of support for improving the quality of education for the millennial generation who had been affected by natural disasters in Central Sulawesi.

According to Iwan, the disaster management carried out by the PUPR Ministry does not only focus on infrastructure development such as roads and housing, but also supports recovery in the education sector.

A number of school buildings and educational facilities, he continued, such as flats for students were also built so that the younger generation in Central Sulawesi again had a passion for learning while improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources.

Iwan admitted that some time ago he had checked the results of infrastructure development and hoped that the student flats facilities, such as buildings and furnishings, could be managed properly by the campus.

It is intended that the state assets built using APBN funds have a fairly long service life and are inhabited by the right students and truly have a passion for learning.

"The Ministry of PUPR built this student flat complete with furniture facilities. So students can practice living in vertical housing and live with friends and study well," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sulawesi II Housing Provision Agency (P2P), Bakhtiar together with the Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Housing Provision Work Unit, Erpika Ansela Surira explained, the need for flats for students in Central Sulawesi is indeed quite a lot.

This, he said, was because many educational facilities in Central Sulawesi were damaged by the earthquake.

"Student flats at Tadulako University were built at a cost of Rp. 11.97 billion. We have also coordinated with the campus so that the management of these flats can be carried out properly," he said.

Based on data from the P2P Sulawesi II Center for Housing, Ministry of PUPR, the student flats were built in 2020 and are located within the Tadulako University Campus area.

The flat that can accommodate 164 students is built in one tower as high as two floors and has 42 units of type 24 rooms, where each room unit has been equipped with facilities such as beds, mattresses, study tables and chairs and a bathroom inside.
