Cooking Oil Case Enters The Filing Stage, KPPU Will Trial Conglomerate-Owned Palm Companies Starting From Wilmar Nabati Indonesia To Salim Ivomas

JAKARTA - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) will conduct a trial against 27 companies that were reported in the cooking oil case. Among them are companies under the auspices of conglomerates such as PT Musim Mas, PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia to PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk.

This is based on the results of an investigation conducted by the KPPU. Currently, the status of law enforcement in this case has also been raised from the investigation stage to the filing stage.

"Thus, the case can be continued to the next stage, namely the Preliminary Examination Council Session," said KPPU's Director of Investigation Gopprera Panggabean, quoted Thursday, July 21.

Furthermore, Gopprera said that in the filing process, the KPPU's filing team will re-examine the Investigation Report from the Investigator team.

"And compiling a Report of Alleged Violations which will be read by the KPPU Prosecutor's Investigator in the Preliminary Examination Council Session," he said.

For information, KPPU has started to investigate the case since March 30, 2022 with registration number No. 03-16/DH/KPPU.LID.I/III/2022 concerning Alleged Violations of Law No. 5 of 1999 (Law 5/99) regarding the Production and Marketing of Cooking Oil in Indonesia.

Gopprera said to complete the existing evidence, KPPU has summoned parties related to the allegations, such as cooking oil producers, associations, retail players, and so on. From the investigation process, KPPU has pocketed at least 2 types of evidence, so that it is concluded that it is feasible to proceed to the filing stage.

Based on the results of the investigation, Gopprera continued, KPPU noted that there were 27 reported cases in the case. They are suspected of violating two articles in Law 5/1999, namely Article 5 concerning price fixing and Article 19 letter c concerning restrictions on the circulation or sale of goods/services.
