Asking For NIB Issuance Up To 100 Thousand Per Day Through OSS, Jokowi: Regional Heads Must Encourage MSMEs To Have Business Permits

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the presence of online single submission or OSS which is a breakthrough in the business licensing system. Through this system, MSME actors get business permits in a fast time.

However, Jokowi admitted that he was not satisfied and set a target for OSS to issue 100 thousand business registration numbers (NIB) per day. This was conveyed by Jokowi when giving directions on the Granting of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) for individual Micro Small Business Actors (UMK) in 2022, in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 13.

Based on the data he received, Jokowi said the NIB issued from August 2021 to July 2022 had reached 1.5 million. Jokowi said he was happy. Because, before the OSS, only 2,000 permits were issued per day.

"Now it has reached the figure of 7,000-8,000 per day, but I'm not asking for a figure of 7,000-8,000 per day, what I am asking for 100 thousand permits per day must be issued and it is the responsibility of the Regional Head to encourage micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs to all have permits. This is a business registration number," said Jokowi.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that NIB is very important for business actors. Therefore, the government also issued OSS to make it easier for business actors, especially MSEs to get NIB.

Furthermore, Jokowi said that applying for a permit through OSS is now very fast and free. Whereas in the past when he became an entrepreneur in the 80s, to apply for a permit he had to pay.

"If you ask for a fee for this NIB, no one wants it, right? Everything is free, right? This is the first key we try, permission, must, because we have 65.4 million MSMEs, again 65.4 million MSME data as of 2021," he explained.

Jokowi explained that NIB is the key in doing business. According to Jokowi, having an NIB has become a must for business actors, especially micro and small businesses so that they can access financing to banks.

"So if you already hold this (NIB), and the business opportunity is there, the market opportunity is there, immediately all of you will flock to BRI or to other banks that provide KUR credit. Because this is PEN funds, while the interest is still 3 percent per year," he said.
