JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has received approval for an injection of State Capital Participation (PMN) funds worth Rp 10 trillion in 2023 from Commission VI of the DPR RI.

President Director of PT PLN Persero Darmawan Prasodjo is grateful that the PMN proposal to fund electricity infrastructure projects was approved by Commission VI of the DPR RI.

"Alhamdulillah, the philosophical and ideological explanation that we conveyed earlier was accepted by the factions in Commission VI DPR RI," said Darmawan to the media, Tuesday, July 5.

Darmawan explained that the funding for electricity infrastructure development is the state's presence in realizing social justice and energy independence.

The reason is, there are 4,700 villages that still do not have access to PLN electricity, 293 villages have not enjoyed electricity at all and the rest have enjoyed independently.

"With Good Corporate Governance, PMN funds will be used for electricity development in the 3T area as well as the development of other electricity infrastructure," he said.

Meanwhile, the PMN proposal will be distributed to a number of projects, namely optimizing electricity supply in Java, Madura, Bali through infrastructure development with a budget of up to IDR 2 trillion.

In addition, as much as Rp 4.5 trillion will be allocated by PLN to build transmission lines that connect hydropower plants to remote areas in Kalimantan.

PLN has also budgeted IDR 3.5 trillion to build new renewable energy (EBT) plants based on PLTM, PLTA and PLTMG and transmissions that connect electricity in remote areas.

Darmawan explained that currently, the electricity infrastructure used to serve 3T areas requires a very high investment cost per customer.

The required investment reaches IDR 25-45 million per customer.

With this high investment, the development of electricity infrastructure is not feasible.

"For this reason, the existence of PMN is a form of state presence, where PLN will make it happen by building energy infrastructure throughout the archipelago, especially underdeveloped, remote areas and is the embodiment of Indonesian sovereignty at the borders between countries," said Darmawan.

Previously, PLN had also received PMN disbursement since 2020 with absorption reaching Rp4.7 trillion until the first quarter of this year.

This realization reached 95 percent of the total PMN funds received by PLN.

Furthermore, the realization of PMN 2021 until the first quarter of this year has absorbed IDR 4 trillion or 80 percent of the total PMN funds that have been received.

In increasing the electrification ratio and achieving equitable energy for all Indonesian people, until this year PLN has taken a corporate action of Rp. 196.8 billion to increase the electrification ratio.

Currently, PLN has recorded a total electrification ratio of 99.7 percent of electrified villages.

However, from this figure, there are still villages that are independently electrified and have not yet enjoyed PLN electricity so that the electrification ratio becomes 90.78 percent.
