JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno asked MSME players in Greater Malang, especially Batu Tourism City, to create products according to the wishes or tastes of the market.

Minister Sandiaga while attending the "Malang MSME Contemporary Beverage Training" at Graha Pancasila, Batu City, Malang, explained that in recent times there has been a change in consumer behavior interest who wants creative economy MSME products in line with market tastes. In other words, more modern.

"I see a change in market preferences, especially the millennial generation to generation Z and after generation Z, who want drinks with the latest innovations. For that I want to inspire creative economy players in Batu City and Malang Raya to follow the market's tastes ," said Menparekraf Sandiaga in a written statement, Friday, June 1.

Menparekraf Sandiaga explained, there are two brands of UMKM or creative economy products for contemporary drinks that have succeeded in selling millions of glasses to the public by developing their products. Starting with "Thirst!" and "Glek".

"This is part of our innovation and learns from the experiences of the two businesses that are our partners, namely 'Haus' and 'Glek' which have now sold millions of cups by the public," he said.

Therefore, the Menparekraf appreciates the Batu City Government for facilitating the current beverage training activities. It is hoped that this training will trigger MSMEs to advance to class, and contribute to creating 1.1 million new jobs this year so that they can increase people's income in the midst of economic pressure.

"So I saw that there were several types of beverage innovations such as ice coffee, boba tea, macha, and of course ginger-based drinks packaged in a contemporary form. We are also working with SMEsHUB Indonesia and other tourism stakeholders to strengthen digitalization. So that they (SME actors) not only have competitive products but are also able to use digital platforms through e-catalogs," explained the former Deputy Governor of DKI.

Menparekraf also appreciated the rise of tourism in Batu City in the last few months. This can be seen from the occupancy rate of 5-star hotel rooms in Batu City.

“Tourism in Batu City has started to recover. 5 star hotels are fully occupied. This is certainly a relief for us. And we want the momentum of this revival to be maintained in the future,” he said.
