Policy On Buying Bulk Cooking Oil Using PeduliLindung Application, Men Of Trade Zulhas' Subordinate: To Prevent Speculators

JAKARTA - The Director General of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Oke Nurwan explained that the change in the purchasing system of bulk cooking oil using the PeduliLindung application is intended to prevent speculators.

Furthermore, Oke said that the current demand for bulk cooking oil is 300,000 tons, equivalent to 416,000 crude palm oil (CPO). With the SIMIRAH system and the PeduliLindung application, Oke said, the government can closely monitor the distribution of bulk cooking oil.

"Because previously without by name by address the goods delivered to the distributor were disturbed. There are speculators, with us thinking positively at this time, by ensuring by name by address, NIK and PeduliLindung it is to avoid speculators' efforts," he was quoted as saying. With PeduliLindungi, said Oke, the government could find out whether bulk cooking oil would be distributed to household customers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"If this is without a clear target consumer, sometimes it gets lost on the road. So the use of the population identification number (NIK) is to ensure the target," he said.

Oke also said that by using the NIK and PeduliLindung, it is certain that the 300,000 bulk cooking oil available can be distributed on target.

"We make sure that with 300,000 tons it is available. And once it is available, we avoid, minimize, the efforts of speculators to hoard. Therefore, we make sure that each distribution chain distributes cooking oil by name by address," he explained.

The use of CareProtect Application is not to make it difficult

Acting Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordinating Ministry Marves Rachmat Kaimuddin said that the change in the bulk cooking oil purchasing system with the PeduliLindung application was not to make it difficult for the community. However, this step is taken to ensure that sales are right on target, as well as a control tool in minimizing the potential for hoarding and smuggling.

Rachmat also explained the reason why the PeduliLindung application was chosen. This is because the application is mature and familiar to the public in the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We don't want to make it difficult or complicated at all, but we are looking for a solution that we think has often been used but wants control because this item is not unlimited," he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, June 28.

The PeduliLindung application itself, said Rachmat, has been used by 90 million Indonesians. Rachmat said, those who use the application can be trusted because it has been integrated with the population identification number (NIK) listed on the identity card (KTP).

Furthermore, Rachmat explained that this was different from purchases with conditions using an ID card. This is because there is a possibility that the person who bought bulk cooking oil used a fake ID card.

"We know how much is issued, we can see how many NIK are collected, we can see the average. If we look at a point of 10 kg per day, we play there, we can check with the Food Task Force, it's true that not all customers sell fried foods, for example. ," he said.
