Starting July 2022, Buying And Selling Of Bulk Cooking Oil Is Now Mandatory To Use PeduliProtect

JAKARTA - The government has started the transition to changes in the sales and purchase system of people's bulk cooking oil (MGCR) using the PeduliLindung application.

The transition to this system change has also begun to be disseminated to the public and will take effect from next July.

This change in the sales and purchase system was made to make MGCR's distribution management more accountable and monitored from producers to consumers.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said, after the socialization period was over, all sales and purchases of MGCR would use the PeduliLindung application.

Luhut explained, for people who don't have Care for Protect, they can still buy by showing their population identification number (NIK).

"The socialization period will start tomorrow Monday (27 June 2022) and will last for the next two weeks. After the socialization period is complete, the public must use the PeduliLindung application or show their NIK, to be able to get MGCR with the highest retail price (HET)," he said in official statement, Friday, June 24.

Purchase of cooking oil is limited to 10 kg per day

Luhut said the purchase of MGCR at the consumer level would be limited to a maximum of 10 kilograms (kg) for one NIK per day and guaranteed to be obtained at the highest retail price, which is Rp 14,000 per liter or Rp 15,500 per kg.

"MGCR at this price can be obtained at sellers/retailers who are officially registered in the Simirah 2.0 program and also through Logistics and Retail Service Business Actors (PUJLE), namely Food and Savory Stalls," said Luhut.

Furthermore, Luhut said, the government made efforts to change this system to provide certainty of the availability and affordability of cooking oil prices for all levels of society.

According to Luhut, the use of PeduliLindungi functions as a monitoring and supervision tool in the field to mitigate fraud in various places and can lead to scarcity and increase in cooking oil prices.

The government, continued Luhut, has also made various efforts to respond to the chaotic cooking oil prices that have occurred since a few months ago. Some of the steps taken are starting to bear fruit with the decline in the price of bulk cooking oil in several areas.

Even so, Luhut asked for supervision related to distribution to continue.

"I want that later distribution can be ensured to run to the lowest level. Don't let there be areas that do not get people's bulk cooking oil below their needs. But all of this will still take time," he said.

To ensure that the socialization and transition period runs optimally, he said, his party has formed a Task Force to disseminate information related to the transition of the new system to the public.

The team will later provide various information channels to serve questions or complaints that arise from the public regarding the purchase of MGCR.

The public will be able to access all information related to the socialization of sales and purchases of MGCR through social media channels that will be prepared.

Starting Monday, the public can access all information related to the socialization of sales and purchases of MGCR through the official social media channel Instagram @minyakita.id and also the linktr.ee/minyakita website.

"This is a joint effort of the relevant Ministries and Institutions to unravel problems related to cooking oil. In the early stages of course it will require adjustments, but I'm sure the community will be able to quickly adapt to this new system, because the goal is for the common good," he said.
