Chili Prices In Greater Jakarta Are High, The National Food Agency Will Mobilize From South Sulawesi

JAKARTA - Some food commodity prices continue to move up ahead of Eid al-Adha. Especially for the price of chili which has increased significantly.

Addressing the price increase, the Head of the National Food Agency (BPN) or National Food Agency (NFA) Arief Prasetyo Adi said he would mobilize chilies from areas that are still harvesting.

"Regarding Red Chili Peppers (CRM), the National Food Agency (NFA) will continue to mobilize chilies from areas that are still harvested and cheaper prices such as South Sulawesi to Jabodetabek. Production is indeed disrupted, supply to the market is reduced, as can be seen from the supply at the Jabodetabek Main Market, " said Arief to VOI, Thursday, June 23.

In addition to chili, shallots also experienced an increase of up to 100 percent at Kramat Jati Market, Jakarta.

The increase in shallots has been consistent since the fasting month or last April.

To overcome this increase in the price of shallots, Arief admitted that he would coordinate with relevant stakeholders to mobilize them from central areas outside Java.

"Mobilizing from central areas outside Java such as NTB to Jabodetabek," he said.

Meanwhile, the price of eggs, said Arief, also increased to Rp. 28,000 per kg.

This is because production costs have increased by around Rp. 22,000 to Rp. 24,000 per kg.

"So the price in cages is around Rp. 24,000-Rp. 26,000 per kg and at retail it is reasonable at Rp. 27,000-Rp. 29,000 per kg. In addition, several months earlier the price of eggs at farmers fell by around Rp. 16,000-Rp. 18,000 per kg. far below the cost of production so it is a loss," he said.
