JAKARTA - Employees or workers who have been laid off, including senior workers, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic or those who have been forced to stop working, need to keep abreast of the latest developments in order to remain relevant in finding new jobs.

Jobstreet Indonesia Country Marketing Manager Sawitri Hertoto in the launch of the 2022 Jobstreet Job Outlook Report in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 22, said this was necessary because changes in the industry were happening so fast, especially in the midst of the digital transformation era.

"COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation in almost all companies. For example, they have been laid off since the beginning of the pandemic, meaning two years, drastic changes must be followed. So you have to ask friends, former bosses or other colleagues. You have to keep up and update with what is happening in the industry," he said, quoted from Antara.

On the other hand, Sawitri believes that employees who stop working have the opportunity to have a career in various industries. Especially because one position can work in a number of other industries.

Therefore, he encourages those who have stopped working to be bolder in changing industries to seize other job opportunities.

"We can see that one position can work in various industries. For example, the industry when he was laid off was an industry that was still prone, instead he had to move so that he could have the opportunity to be accepted to work in a better place. So you have to be brave for people who are not working to move the industry," he said.

Sawitri also shared her experience when she had to stop working for three years due to being a mother. According to him, within three years, there was a very drastic change in the industry he worked in. He was not confident when he returned to apply for a job.

"I stopped working for three years, it was similar to a layoff, the changes were drastic. When I came back to work I was not PD (confident) or could I still be. That's what has to be discussed, not where to be more convincing," said Sawitri.
