JAKARTA - Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan said he would immediately resolve the domestic cooking oil problem.

Zulkifli admitted that he did not want the cooking oil problem to drag on and trouble the community.

As is known, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated the General Chair of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan as the Minister of Trade replacing M. Lutfi, this afternoon at the Presidential Palace.

"Insha Allah, together with my friends, we can quickly resolve (problems) especially cooking oil. It is available at an affordable price. If it lingers, I feel sorry for the people. I think that is a priority," he said at the Presidential Palace, Wednesday, June 15.

On this occasion, Zulkifli Hasan also thanked the former Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi for what he had done. The same goes for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Bisar Pandjaitan.

Zulkifli is also optimistic that with his various backgrounds and experiences, he can carry out his duties as Minister of Trade and solve current problems.

"Of course I appreciate what Pak Luhut, Pak Lutfi and other friends have done. Once again I think the long experience background will certainly help a lot. Soon the availability of cooking oil anywhere and affordable prices is the most important thing," he said. .

For your information, the problem of cooking oil in the country has not yet been resolved.

Various policies were taken to ensure supply availability and price stabilization in the country, starting from the one price policy of IDR 14,000 per liter, then the highest retail price (HET), 10 percent DMO-DPO which was later increased to 20 percent.

Also not effective, in April 2022 President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also decided to temporarily ban the export of crude palm oil or crude palm oil and its derivatives including cooking oil. The goal is to reduce domestic prices.

Along with developments on May 23, 2022, Jokowi lifted the export ban. Then, the DMO-DPO policy was enforced again.
