MAKASSAR - PLN Sulawesi Parent Development Unit (UIP) through PLN Southeast Sulawesi Project Implementing Unit (UPP Sultra) implemented the first voltage (energize) at three new power plants in Baubau to support the tourism and marine sectors.

"PLN supplies the first electricity to three electricity infrastructures for the 150 kilo Votl (kV) substation (GI) in Baubau," said General Manager of PLN UIP Sulawesi, Defiar Anis, quoted from Antara, Sunday, June 12.

Anis said the activity was to support the tourism and marine industry on Buton Island as a form of PLN's commitment to providing reliable electricity supplies for customers.

The construction of the three electricity infrastructures contained in the 2021-2030 RUPTL, namely, the 150kV Baubau PLTMG Substation (GI) with a capacity of 30 MVA, the 150kV Baubau (New) Substation (GI) with a capacity of 60 MVA and the High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) 150kV GI PLTMG Baubau. – GI Baubau (New) with a total of 32 towers with a length of 10.96 KMS.

"With the operation of these three electricity infrastructures, this activity also aims to optimize the evacuation of power from PLTU Baruta and PLTMG Baubau," said Anis.

This includes increasing the reliability of the Baubau system, meeting electricity needs, and supporting the growth of the tourism and marine sector on Buton Island.

Anis said that previously, the evacuation of power from the PLTU Baruta and PLTMG Baubau was through a 20kV system. However, due to the increasing system load, with the existence of a 150 kV transmission line and GI, the distribution of power to the load center can be more optimal, reliable and help reduce the BPP figure.

"Buton is rich in its diverse tourism potential. Starting from beach tourism and underwater charm, waterfall tourism, cultural tourism, culinary tourism to eco forest tourism," he said.

In fact, he continued, not only that, Buton is also known as one of the largest natural asphalt producing regions in the world.

In addition, the potential of the marine and fisheries sector continues to grow.

The large number of potentials in various sectors on Buton Island must be accompanied by the fulfillment of adequate electricity needs so that they can be utilized optimally.

For this reason, PLN UIP Sulawesi is committed to providing reliable electricity supplies to customers on Buton Island through the construction of electricity infrastructure.
