NTT Recorded 45,537 Capital Market Investors As Of May 2022, Stock Exchange: At The End Of 2019 Only 8,856 Investors, Up Fivefold In Two Years

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) recorded that the number of capital market investors in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) until May 2022 reached 45,537 investors. This number increased by 36,681 investors from the position at the end of 2019, which only reached 8,856 investors.

"The capital market investors in NTT have continued to grow since December 2019, only 8,856 investors grew to 45,537 investors," said IDX Development Director Hasan Fawsi in a statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 10.

At the inauguration ceremony of the NTT BEI Office in Kupang, Hasan said the growth of capital market investors in NTT had reached five times in about two years. The increase in the number of new investors, he said, was followed by an increase in transaction and investment activities. The new account openings are spread across 56 exchange members on the IDX.

He explained that during January-May 2022, the number of capital market investment transactions in NTT reached IDR 1.26 trillion. Demographically, investors in NTT, he said, were dominated by young people aged 18-25 years, which made up 43 percent.

"This is a tremendous potential for future development," he said.

Furthermore, Hasan said IDX has continued to educate about good ways to invest in the capital market since operational activities took place in NTT in November 2019.
