JAKARTA - The government of Batang Regency, Central Java, informed that investors from India have confirmed that they will build a ceramic factory worth Rp. 3.1 trillion in the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT).
"This ceramic factory will occupy an area of 13 hectares in the first phase," said Head of the Batang Regency Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) Wahyu Budi Santosa in Batang, quoted from Antara, Monday 6 June.
According to him, the initial construction of the "groundbreaking" ceramic factory is planned to be carried out by the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board, Bahlil Lahadalia, Tuesday, June 7.
"God willing, tomorrow's groundbreaking will be carried out because the construction of the ceramic factory can be completed this year and operate in 2023," he said.
Wahyu Budi Santosa said the ceramic factory will produce various kinds of household furniture such as ceramic tiles, ceramic wall tiles, bathroom toilets, ceramic cups, and ceramic plates.
Likewise, he said, the ceramic factory is estimated to absorb around 1,000 workers.
"We have communicated with the ceramic factory regarding the workforce that will be needed. In the first stage it will be around 500 people and when it is running or producing it can reach 1,000 people," he said.
He said the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate is a national strategy project (PSN) carried out by the central government as an effort to restore the community's economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"KIT Batang is an effort by the government to create jobs which will have an impact on increasing the economic welfare of the community, especially the residents of Batang Regency," he said.
