JAKARTA - Seasoned investor Lo Kheng Hong told how he started being an investor in the capital market. He said this when the man called Warren Buffet Indonesia had a conversation with a conglomerate from Surabaya who is also the owner and President Commissioner of PT Avia Avian Tbk (AVIA) Hermanto Tanoko.

Before becoming a full-time investor, Lo Kheng Hong admitted that he was a bank employee before finally deciding to leave his job at the age of 37 or in 1996 to become a stock investor.

"When I quit the bank, I was 37 years old. Now I'm 63. So, I've been WFH (work from home) for 26 years," said Pak Lo in Hermanto Tanoko's podcast, quoted on Friday, June 3.

The man who is familiarly called Pak Lo revealed that the reason he left the bank was because he had earned quite a lot of money from investing in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) stock market. Meanwhile, Lo Kheng Hong first invested in stocks in 1989 while still working at a bank.

"Before the crisis I left because I had earned quite a lot of money in the stock exchange. So I wanted to focus on being a stock investor on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. I'd better resign," explained Pak Lo.

"I stopped working at the bank in 1996. I started buying stocks in 1989, so I already have seven years of experience investing in the IDX," he added.

Furthermore, Mr. Lo said that while still working at the bank, he lived a frugal and simple life so that from his salary there was enough money left to buy shares.

"So when I have it, I don't put it in a deposit or in a savings account at the bank, even though I work at a bank. So I bought the money for stocks. After 33 years, the money became big," added Lo Kheng Hong.
