JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as the Daily Chair of the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) asked KNEKS staff to think about ways to accelerate halal certification for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani as the Secretary of KNEKS after attending the second Plenary Meeting of KNEKS led by the Vice President, at the Ministry of Finance as quoted by Antara, Monday 30 May.

"What is currently lacking is MSME halal certification. If the current number of MSMEs is 60 million, with the current speed, it will take a long time," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.

According to Sri Mulyani, there needs to be a breakthrough to accelerate the process of halal certification for SMEs, in order to realize Indonesia's ideals as a center for world halal producers.

"The vice president asked KNEKS to think of a way out and approach it," explained the Minister of Finance.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in his statement to reporters said the main agenda of today's KNEKS Plenary Meeting was to realize Indonesia's ideals of becoming the world's halal center.

Efforts to be made are strengthening the master plan, completing sharia economic data to building regional sharia economic and finance committees.
