JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamenperekraf) Angela Herliani Tanoesoedibjo reviewed the readiness of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park Bali which will be the location for the 2022 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) delegation field trip.

"I hope the delegates can enjoy the GWK area, enjoy cultural performances performed by Balinese artists," Wamenparekraf Angela Tanoesoedibjo said in a statement received in Badung Regency, quoted from Antara, Friday, May 27.

He said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy would introduce GWK as a tourist destination that helps preserve local culture and also improve the community's economy through various cultural activities.

He also expressed his admiration for one of the interesting icons in the GWK Bali Cultural Park, namely the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue.

"The GWK Bali statue was created as a symbol of saving the environment and the world. It fits perfectly with the tourism concept that embodies strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive global growth," he said.

Angela Tanoesoedibjo explained, the GWK Cultural Park is also one of the places that will be used as the location for the G20 High Level Conference (KTT) delegates dinner in November 2022.

"Currently GWK has also been prepared to welcome delegates at the G20 Summit. GWK arrangements continue to be carried out to support the development of tourism destinations with international standards and cultural insight in Bali," said Wamenparekraf.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana itself is a cultural park which has an area of 240 hectares. The GWK statue depicts the figure of one of the gods who is highly respected by the Hindu community in Bali, namely Lord Vishnu who is riding his mount, the garuda bird.

Considered as the God Preserving the Universe, the GWK statue has a symbolic meaning of saving the environment and the world. Even the figure of the garuda is a very loyal representative of freedom and devotion.
