JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Suahasil Nazara today briefed the recipients of the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) Scholarships Batch 185 and 186 ahead of their departure some time in the future.

According to Suahasil, the students who were selected were the luckiest group and had the best status. The reason is, the LPDP scholarship provides excellent educational facilities in Indonesia and also all world-renowned campuses for free.

"I can say that you as a scholarship recipient are an elite group," he said through a virtual channel on Friday, May 27.

Suahasil explained that not everyone has the same opportunity to receive a quality education. Moreover, the facilities received are a share of state finances that are supported by all Indonesian people.

“You are an elite group who benefit from the management of state money. If you are an elite group, then you have an obligation to be a good elite. Elites who provide benefits to those around them," added Sri Mulyani's subordinate.

Therefore, Suahasil wants LPDP participants who have completed their education to be able to contribute back to society in the form of contributing works and thoughts for development.

"You have to provide benefits to the people of Indonesia because the money for your school comes from public money," he said.

Citing information released by the Ministry of Finance, it is known that the total endowment fund for education until March 2022 reaches Rp. 99.1 trillion. The funds come from part of the education budget in the APBN which has been set aside every year since the 2007 period.
