JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) will provide electricity supply of 750 KVA during the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour 2022, in Banyuwangi.

This prestigious surfing event is planned to be held from 28 May to 06 June 2022 at Plengkung Beach (G-Land), Tegaldlimo, Banyuwangi, East Java.

General Manager of the East Java PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID), Lasiran explained, the electricity supply is planned to be distributed at several points such as lodging, broadcast centers, helipad stands, offshore judge towers, VIP towers, medical centers and other strategic locations.

Furthermore, he added, the construction of electricity infrastructure had been carried out by PLN since the end of April 2022, it was monitored in the field of pole construction and the withdrawal of low-voltage networks (JTR), until the distribution transformer uprating had been completed.

Lasiran explained the progress of work that has been carried out by PLN, namely uprating the transformer from 200 KVA to 250 KVA, planting poles for the supply of the offshore judge tower, pulling the JTR cable to supply the VIP Tower & Medical Center that has been installed and withdrawing the JTR supply for the offshore judge tower.

"The demand for electricity for the 2022 World Surf League is quite large. We have prepared a reliable electricity supply for the event," said Lasiran.

As for the 9 location points that will be used as the main locations for the event, the electricity system will be supplied by PLN and will provide 3 units of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with a total capacity of 380 KVA, and 4 generator units with a total capacity of 760 KVA.

To maintain the reliability of electricity supply, PLN has coordinated with all relevant stakeholders to prepare electricity infrastructure. Lasiran also hopes that this collaboration can continue to be improved, so that the entire process can run safely and smoothly.

The head of the Alas Purwo National Park Center, Nuryadi, said that he would continue to communicate with PLN for electricity and internet network providers.

"Because later there will be a live streaming of the implementation of the competition from the judge tower at sea. The public can witness the event directly. We provide a giant screen at the location. Hopefully everything goes smoothly, electricity supply and internet are reliable," he concluded.
