More Than 3 Million Vehicles Crossing Waskita Karya Toll Road During Eid Al-Fitr 2022

JAKARTA - More than three million vehicles cross the toll road owned by PT Waskita Toll Road (WTR), a subsidiary of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, during the homecoming and return flow of Lebaran 2022.

WTR President Director Septiawan Andri Purwanto said the number of vehicles crossing the WTR toll road increased due to the loosened homecoming rules.

"After two years of not carrying out homecoming, this year's Eid is a very appropriate moment to be able to meet our relatives. Alhamdulillah, during the homecoming week, traffic conditions were relatively smooth and there were no significant events," he said, quoted from Antara, Friday May 13th.

Septiawan said that when compared to the homecoming flow in 2019, the volume of vehicles in 2022 would increase by 20 percent.

"We are grateful that the community has been given the trust to be able to provide services to road users and can also be a means for the Indonesian people to be able to carry out homecoming comfortably and safely. We hope that we can maintain this achievement in the future," he said.

The toll segments that are the main contributors include the Kanci-Pejagan, Pejagan-Pemalang, and Pemalang-Batang toll roads which are part of the Trans-Java toll road section, as well as the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (Kapal Betung) which is part of the Trans-Java toll road section. Trans-Sumatra toll road.

It was recorded that the number of vehicles crossing the Trans-Java Toll Road during the Lebaran 2022 homecoming week (H-10 to D-2 Lebaran) experienced a significant increase when compared to normal traffic.

In detail, there are 790,048 vehicles on the Kanci-Pejagan Toll Road, 570,137 vehicles on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road, and 543,383 units on the Pemalang-Batang Toll Road.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles crossing the Kapal Betung Toll Road is 155,078 vehicles.

At the peak of the return flow for Eid 2022 (D+1 to D+4 Lebaran), the volume of vehicle traffic on the four toll roads, namely 374,106 vehicles on the Kanci-Pejagan Toll Road, 295,833 vehicles on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road, 291,034 vehicles on the Pemalang-Pejagan Toll Road. Batang, and 75,260 vehicles on the Kapal Betung Toll Road.

Meanwhile, it is estimated that the total number of vehicles from D+5 to D+10 Lebaran on the Kanci-Pejagan, Pejagan-Pemalang, and Pemalang-Batang toll roads will increase by around 814,930 vehicles.

"The number of vehicles passing through the WTR toll roads during the homecoming week is the highest number since the WTR toll roads started operating," added Septiawan.

During the Lebaran 2022 homecoming and return flows, WTR together with the owned toll road business entities (BUJT) have carried out a number of preparations, both from adding personnel and repairing toll road bodies.

The preparations include alerting fleet vehicles, highway patrol units (PJR), tow vehicles, ambulances, and rescue vehicles that are on standby for 24 hours.

In addition, additional substations at toll gates, traffic signs, and traffic information on VMS boards along the road have been added.

Before the homecoming flow took place, BUJT officers had made repairs to damaged roads, one of which was detecting and closing holes or cracks in the road using cold asphalt.
