Premier Oil Drills Exploration Wells In WK Andaman II

JAKARTA - The Premier Oil (A Harbor Energy Company) Cooperation Contract Contractor (KKKS) drilled the Timpan-1 exploration well on May 10, 2022.

It is known that the offshore exploration well is located in the Andaman II Working Area (WK), 150 km north of Lhokseumawe City, with a seawater depth of 4,236 ft.

SKK Migas Deputy for Operations Julius Wiratno said that this exploration drilling was intended to test and evaluate the potential gas content contained in the Timpan structure located in the western part of the Andaman II WK.

The Timpan-1 well was drilled vertically using the Drill Ship West Capella drilling rig.

"This well was drilled with the planned final depth of the well at 14,457 ft MDRT. The drilling is included in the deepwater category," said Julius in a written statement, Thursday 12 May.

He continued, the current status of the Timpan-1 well drilling operation is drilling Hole 26.

Meanwhile, the Timpan-1 well drilling program is expected to be implemented within the next 3 months.

Julius said this discovery shows the potential of upstream oil and gas in Indonesia still has promising potential and will play an important role in efforts to increase upstream oil and gas production in a sustainable manner to achieve the long-term target of 2030, namely oil production of 1 million barrels per day (BOPD) and natural gas. billion cubic feet per day (BSCFD).

"In the future, the potential for upstream oil and gas will be dominated by the deep sea, so the success of drilling the Timpan-1 exploration well is expected to encourage investors to invest more in deep sea drilling," said Julius.

In order to encourage new oil and gas discoveries, he said, SKK Migas and KKKS in 2022 have set a target for exploration drilling wells to reach 42 wells.

Until the first quarter of 2022 the realization of exploration drilling wells reached 5 wells, and when compared to the realization in the same quarter of 2021 as many as 4 wells, the achievement of year on year (YoY) drilling of exploration wells reached 125 percent.

As for April 2022, the achievement of drilling exploration wells has reached 7 wells or 31 percent of this year's target.

"Looking at the achievements of the drilling program in the first quarter of 2022, we are optimistic that the realization of exploration well drilling this year will be better," said Julius.

Furthermore, Julius said, with the COVID-19 pandemic being more controlled, as well as loosening mobility, in the second quarter SKK Migas and KKKS will increase mobility for the implementation of drilling exploration wells.

"If in 2021 the majority of coordination with KKKS is done online, so that the obstacles in the field are not fully portrayed, then with more offline coordination this year, we believe that the existing obstacles can be resolved better and faster so that the target for drilling wells is exploration in 2022 is optimistic that it can be fully realized," concluded Julius.

Previously, SKK Migas North Sumatra (Sumbagut)-Premier Oil Andaman Limited had socialized the drilling of the Timpan-1 well to stakeholders both in Aceh Province and districts/cities that became the operational areas of Andaman Premier Oil, namely the Governor of Aceh, Aceh Police Chief, Pangdam Iskandar Muda, Regent of North Aceh, Regent of Bireun, Mayor of Lhokseumawe, Danlanal Lhokseumawe, Panglima Laot and other relevant stakeholders.
