The President Director of ID FOOD Food Holding, Frans Marganda Tambunan, said that ID FOOD food holding also continues to supervise and monitor and disseminate prevention to all ID FOOD Group partners, including the Traders Association and Breeder Partners.

Through his subsidiary in the livestock sector, Frans detailed that Food Holding ID FOOD had made efforts to prevent this FMD from an early age. Among other things, by not importing livestock in areas that are suspected of being affected by FMD, taking quarantine or isolation measures for cattle that have just arrived or moved from other cage locations.

Then, using strict biosecurity procedures in the livestock area managed by PT Berdikari Holding subsidiary, member of ID FOOD, seeking vaccines against cattle and sheep and other prevention efforts.

"This prevention effort is the food holding's support for the government in deciding the spread of FMD in livestock," he said in a written statement received by VOI, quoted Monday, 9 May.

Frans also ensures that the cattle farms managed by ID FOOD Group are safe and free from outbreaks.

"Based on market operations and our coordination with the Traders' Association and partners, beef stock is available," he said.

On the same occasion, the President Director of PT Berdikari, Harry Warganegara, said that after Lebaran, his party continued to distribute beef stock, both fresh and frozen, to partners to ensure beef availability was met.

Harry also ensures that the beef distributed is healthy and safe. Regarding the FMD outbreak in East Java, early prevention has also been carried out through socialization of prevention efforts to partner breeders.

"Currently Berdikari has a stock of 1,408 cattle in West Java, NTB and South Sulawesi as well as 1,213 sheep in West Java, Central Java and East Java. Since the news of the alleged PMK, the process of tightening the biosecurity of the cage has been increased, both for equipment and including fodder," said Harry.

Harry also hopes that the government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Directorate of Livestock and Animal Health can immediately get the results of what strains of the PMK virus are available so that they can determine the right vaccine for wider prevention.

Previously, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, had moved quickly in handling cases of FMD in livestock that occurred in East Java.
