To Grow Credit, BNI Captures Business Development To The Downstream Sector

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI seizes business development opportunities into the downstream sector or commodity derivative sector to grow credit this year.

BNI Corporate Secretary Mucharom said that the potential for credit growth this year is quite high because many sectors have again recorded good performance increases, especially from the commodity derivative sector.

"The downstream commodity sector shows quite good growth. We see that many smelter developments will be very widespread and large," Mucharom said in an official statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 8.

He assessed that this was also in line with the direction of the government so that the country's mainstay commodities could be sold abroad with higher added value.

The government has begun to prohibit a lot of unfinished goods so that all processing takes place domestically, so that this policy is expected to become an engine of growth for the private corporate segment.

Mucharom said that BNI's credit growth this year was still in line with the target at the beginning of the year because several top tier customers have started showing performance improvements such as infrastructure, electricity and gas, warehousing, and digital.

This is also in line with the decline in credit restructuring which helps BNI to be able to carry out higher quality expansion.

"We will stick with our initial target of high single digits. We have seen high growth potential since the beginning of this year, so we are quite confident," he said.

He explained that credit in the business banking segment is still the engine of BNI's credit business acceleration, with a 4.8 percent growth compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy) to Rp489.3 trillion.

This growth was mainly financing to the private corporate segment which grew 9.9 percent (yoy) to Rp193.2 trillion, the large commercial segment 24.5 percent (yoy) to Rp46.1 trillion, and the MSME segment which grew 11.8 percent (yoy). ) with a credit value of IDR 98 trillion.
